Starting the Reno of the Upstairs Bathroom

When we bought our home 9 years ago it was a blank slate. All of the walls were a cream colored flat paint. The trim was all original- nothing fancy. The kitchen was also very original with cabinets that felt like they might have a light coating of grease, faux butcher block counters, and no dishwasher. These are things you would think we would have updated first but instead I remember being really excited to work on the main bathroom. It was very plain and the small space didn't feel as overwhelming to take on as a kitchen. We painted it a pretty shade of blue, bought a new vanity, light fixture, and replaced the toilet. I was so happy! However, now 9 years later and few renovations under my belt I felt like this bathroom needed more help. This time its going to require more than a little paint. The linoleum flooring is coming up and black marble picket tiles are going down. 4x16 white subway tiles are replacing the plastic shower lining where they will also continue onto the other walls of the bathroom. I found some black and white wallpaper that will also be accenting the walls. The bulky vanity has been sold on Facebook marketplace and we have a pedestal sink ready to go. All the silver/chrome is out. Black and little hints of brass are in. See the before pictures below and stay tuned to see this project in full completion!
